Gary Myers is an artist whose work is instantly recognisable, characterised by a profound connection to the Australian outback and a keen interest in the nation’s history. Currently, Gary is represented in six galleries across the eastern states of Australia, including Tasmania. He regularly collaborates with Kevin Hill, ranked among the top ten Australian artists. Additionally, Gary shares his expertise as an exhibitor and visiting tutor at the Sydney Art School and the Combined Art Societies of Sydney, along with conducting classes at his own studio.
Gary’s artwork has been widely acclaimed, earning placements in private, corporate, and educational collections worldwide, including recent acquisitions by Westfield and Lend Lease. Throughout his illustrious career spanning over five decades, Gary has garnered numerous awards and accolades, including being a finalist in esteemed competitions such as the Hornsby Art Prize and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize. He is also in high demand as a judge for art competitions.
Inspired by his upbringing in Brisbane and his extensive travels, Gary’s art reflects his early experiences as a cartographer and illustrator. Now based in Maleny, Queensland, amidst the picturesque Sunshine Coast hinterland, Gary draws inspiration from his familial ties spanning four generations. It is here that he employs a vibrant and dramatic approach to his diverse subjects, creating captivating works that resonate with audiences worldwide.
